Overall Thoughts:
Overall I think that this Feath R Lite paddle board is a really solid SUP that is great for entry-level riders. It is a good looking inflatable paddle board that looks nice on the water, it is rigid and tracks well in the water. I like that they chose a tri-fin setup because it makes it easier to use for beginners (1). It’s also lightweight and easy to carry, which is a nice extra. The place where this paddle board falls a little flat is with the accessories, they aren’t the best and the pump is average at best. This is kinda expected with a budget paddle board so it’s not unusual.
PROS | CONS |
– Looks great and is easy to see on the water. – It is lightweight and easy to carry (even for teens and women) – The tri-fin set up allows for good tracking and stability on the water. – The board is rigid and will function well with heavier riders. – Great price | – The accessories aren’t amazing. They serve their purpose but you can look for better accessories. – The pump is single action and takes a while to inflate, consider an electric pump. |

Overall Thoughts:
This Feath R Lite paddle board is a more intermediate paddle board in my opinion because of the extra maneuverability that you get from the smaller size compared to the Koi. One of the biggest benefits is that it’s really lightweight and easy to carry which is a really nice bonus. It has a little lighter weight capacity that also gives it speed and performance on the water. I really liked the large and cushy deckpad which is big. Finally – It has nice storage space which makes it a good touring board. Like before, the accessories are average so just know that going into it.
PROS | CONS |
– This sup is really lightweight and easy to carry. – It has some nice performance on the water, the board is a little shorter and more maneuverable which feels great on the water – Has a large deckpad that lets you move around on the board as much as you want (it’s also soft for your knees) – Has quite a bit of storage space so this is nice for touring and longer paddlers. | – Again, the accessories are just average, but this is an entry level paddle board. |

What Accessories Should You Get?
When you’re getting into paddle boarding, a few key accessories can really enhance your experience. Here’s a simple list of essentials to consider:
- Paddle: Obviously, you need a good paddle. Look for one that’s adjustable to match your height for the best comfort and performance.
- Life Jacket: Safety first! Even if you’re a strong swimmer, a life jacket is a must. It keeps you safe and can also provide a bit of extra warmth on cooler days.
- Leash: A leash ties you to your paddle board. If you fall off, the board won’t drift away from you, making it easier to get back on.
- Waterproof Bag: These are great for keeping your things dry while you’re out on the water. Stuff like your phone, keys, and a snack can go in here.
- Sun Protection: Don’t forget about the sun. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen will protect you from UV rays.
- Repair Kit: Especially if you have an inflatable board, a repair kit can be a lifesaver. It’ll help you patch up any punctures or leaks that might happen.
These accessories aren’t just add-ons; they’re part of making your paddle boarding safe and enjoyable. So, it’s worth investing in these to make sure you have a great time out on the water.

Featherlite Paddle Board Instructions:
Setting up your Feath R Lite paddle board is easy and fun! Here’s a simple guide to get you started and paddling in no time:
What You’ll Need
- Feath R Lite Inflatable Paddle Board
- Adjustable SUP Paddle
- SUP Pump
- Removable Fins
- Leash
- Waterproof Phone Pouch (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Unpack Your Board: Begin by unpacking your Feath R Lite paddle board from its backpack. Spread it out flat on a clean, smooth surface to avoid any punctures or damage.
- Attach the Fins: Locate the fin box at the rear of the board. Slide the larger center fin into the slot and secure it with the provided pin or screw. If your model includes side fins, snap them into place as well.
- Inflate Your Board: Connect the SUP pump to the valve on your board, found near the tail. Pump until the board reaches the recommended pressure, usually between 12-15 PSI. The board should feel firm. Check the built-in pressure gauge to ensure proper inflation.
- Attach the Leash: Fasten the leash around one end of the board, typically at the tail, and the other end around your ankle. This keeps your board close if you fall off.
- Assemble the Paddle: If your paddle is adjustable, assemble it by connecting the pieces. Adjust the length so that when the paddle is held vertically, the handle reaches just above your wrist when your arm is fully extended upward.
- Final Checks: Do a quick check to ensure everything is secure, including fins and valves. Make sure your safety gear is ready, such as a life jacket if you use one.
- Hit the Water: Carry your board to the water’s edge. It’s easier to start in shallow water where you can easily stand. Place the board in the water, climb on carefully, and start paddling! Remember to stand in the middle of the board for the best balance.
- Enjoy Paddling: Start with short strokes on either side of the board to get a feel for balancing and steering. Enjoy your time on the water, and explore at your own pace!
Packing Up
- Deflate Your Board: Once you’re done paddling, bring the board back to shore. Open the valve to deflate your board. It helps to gently press on the board to speed up the deflation process.
- Roll Up the Board: Once all the air is out, start from the nose and roll the board towards the valve to squeeze out any remaining air.
- Pack Everything Away: Place the rolled-up board, paddle, pump, and any other accessories back into the backpack. Make sure everything is dry and clean before packing to prevent mildew or damage.
That’s it! With these simple steps, you’re ready to enjoy your Feath R Lite paddle board on many water adventures. Remember to always check local weather and water conditions before heading out, and paddle safely!
Conclusion:
In summary, Feath R Lite paddle boards are a fantastic choice for anyone looking to get into paddle boarding or enhance their experience. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate paddler, these boards offer a great balance of stability, ease of use, and affordability. FAQs
Are lighter paddle boards better?
Lighter paddle boards have their advantages, especially when it comes to portability and ease of handling. They are easier to carry to and from the water, and they often require less effort to maneuver while paddling. However, they might not be as stable as heavier boards, which could be a factor if you’re a beginner or if you’re paddling in rougher waters.
Are cheap paddleboards worth it?
Cheap paddleboards can be a good choice if you’re just starting out and aren’t sure if you’ll stick with the sport. They allow you to try paddle boarding without a huge investment. However, they might not be as durable or perform as well as more expensive boards, so if you find yourself paddle boarding often, you might want to upgrade later.
What’s the difference between cheap and expensive paddle boards?
The main differences between cheap and expensive paddle boards often lie in the materials, construction quality, and features. Expensive boards are typically made with higher-quality materials that offer better durability and performance. They might also have additional features like better fin setups, enhanced deck pads, and lighter weight materials that make paddling easier and more enjoyable.
Is it better to have 3 fins on a paddleboard or 1?
Having three fins on a paddleboard, often referred to as a tri-fin setup, can provide better stability and tracking (the ability to maintain a straight path). This setup is particularly useful for beginners or those paddling in surf conditions. A single fin setup, on the other hand, makes the board faster and easier to turn, which might be preferable for more experienced paddlers or those who prefer racing or touring.
What is the lifespan of a paddle board?
The lifespan of a paddle board depends on several factors including the material quality, how often it is used, and how well it is maintained. Generally, a well-maintained inflatable paddle board can last between 5 to 10 years. Hard boards made of materials like fiberglass or epoxy can last even longer if they are carefully looked after. To extend the lifespan of your paddle board, make sure to clean it after use, store it in a cool, dry place, and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight when not in use.
